Rare 3-issue Banded set of 7c comics still in original color paper band reading "A Good Comic 3 for 15c (see picture). In 1955 Modern Store Publications released a paper-banded set containing the following 7c cover-priced mini-comics: Gay Comics #1, Pop Comics #1 and Whee Comics #1 Modern Store Publications, 45 West 45th Street, NY, NY. These sets may have been distributed at this unique retail price as a set and by individual comic, but these small comics were likely also distributed by retailers as a giveaway. All stores in all issues are funny animal as per the following examples: Teepee Tim, the Indian Boy, Witch Hazel (not the one in Little Lulu!), Hare-Brained Tortoise etc. These 7c comics are all 36-pages, full color, slick cover with standard newsprint interior, 5-1/8-in. x 7-in., 7c cover price, and Comics Code approved. They contains numerous ads for child-related national brands such as U.S. Keds shoes, Wheaties, Tootsie Roll, Bazooka Bubble Gum, Baby Ruth Candy, and Nabisco Wheat Honeys, to name a few. NOTE: Only the three titles listed above are know to have been produced in this series. Others may have been produced although we think it unlikely. Cover price $0.07.
