Synopsis | Despite their past history, money-launderer Johnny Dollar and "racketeer" Green Hornet agree to do business together and arrange a late-night meet, but each man is planning a double cross. Unknown to either, so is Dollar's current mistress, Penny Lane, who is dealing with a real racketeer named Max Block. Also plotting is Mishi/Wasp, who had planted a bug on the Black Beauty when she made her disparaging comment about it (last issue). At the appointed time and place, the proceedings begin calmly enough, but Dollar hears the Hornet address his associate by the vaguely familiar name "Kato." Soon enough, violence predictably erupts. A head kick from Kato eliminates Block, Penny and most secondary thugs are killed, and things climax with the Wasp's sword at Dollar's throat. To make her vengeance complete, she unmasks. As she desires, he remembers her, but he also recognizes her real surname as that by which the Hornet had addressed his man. Kato tries to stop Mishi from murdering Dollar, who takes advantage of her distraction to deflect her sword arm and pull a handgun, firing a shot which digs a gouge along the side of her neck. She lunges at Dollar, causing them to plunge into the harbor, where the Wasp pulls a short sword from a leg scabbard and runs the criminal through. He sinks, and Kato pulls her onto dry land. They get into their vehicles and leave. |
