Characters | Challengers of the Unknown [Ace Morgan; Prof Haley; Red Ryan; Rocky Davis]; The Ooze [Killer Starke]; African tribespeople |
Synopsis | In Central Africa, the Challs pursue Killer Starke. He went into the mysterious Red Forest, and a tribal chief tells them not to enter. Enter they do, and corner Starke in a cave. He shoots wild, so Prof lobs a grenade. Starke is missing, until a bubbling pool of strange minerals releases a walking blob-monster. The Ooze absorbs anything and grows larger, even consuming the ground. The Africans must abandon their village and burn it to deny the Ooze sustenance. But it keeps coming and growing. Prof works up a plan, Red calls an Air Force base for parts, and Rocky and locals dig a pit. Ace rides an elephant to lure the Ooze on. Even then, Rocky and Red and Prof are trapped, stuck like flies. Ace lures the Ooze onto a leafy cover - and it falls over a pit of whooshing jet engines. Suspended in air, the Ooze shrinks until it's just Starke again. The Challs take Starke to prison, but promise to return with experts to rebuild the village. |

Characters | Challengers of the Unknown [Ace Morgan; Prof Haley; Red Ryan; Rocky Davis]; Doctor Heller; Colonel Takawa; Japanese soldiers |
Synopsis | On a deserted island, the Challengers investigate why an extinct volcano is suddenly smoking and threatening air lanes. They're jumped by Japanese soldiers still fighting World War II twenty years late! In the hollowed-out volcano factory - with smoking chimney - Ace and Rocky are captured. Doktor Heller, a Nazi scientist and Colonel Takawa recruited a Youth Squad and vowed to keep fighting. And they prepare for the next assault! Heller has two secret weapons: a prototype "flying saucer" and gold pellets that vibrate steel to pieces. Dropped from the sky onto American cities, they'll wreak havoc. Heller forces Ace and Rocky into the saucer to test it, then whips them around by remote control. The groggy pilots would be shot, but Prof and Red descend with fists flying. They hop in the saucer. Prof pilots it atop the giant chimney and floods the underground with smoke. The Challs radio the 7th Fleet to come get the time-lagged villains. |
