Characters | Diane Crawford; Pete Harvey; Sherry Roberts |
Synopsis | Diane spent her after-school hours slaving for her aunt, helping her run the local boarding house. One night, while out for a walk to "get some air" she wandered to the train station and saw a man fall from a train. Rushing to his side, she finds he is very sick, and begs the station master to let her take him to the railroad shack. Diane nurses the man to health and learns that he is really Pete Harvey, former middleweight boxing champion, now down on his luck. With Diane's support, Pete trains and returns to the ring, winning his bouts. Pete leaves town to climb the boxing ladder, but when Diane hadn't heard from him, she went to visit him and finds Pete in a penthouse with Sherry Roberts, his former wife. Pete called often to appologize, but Diane refused to return his call until the night of the championship fight when she rushed to the arena only to find Pete knocked out and beaten. On the way to the dressing room, she passes Sherry who tells Diane that Pete is "no good", and she is leaving. Rushing in to see Pete, Pete takes Diane into his arms and tells her that without her the fight went out of him, but together, he'd always be a champ. |
