Synopsis Wilfred Clayton, businessman, insists he saved the Challengers' lives at their plane crash. Now he demands a favor. Each hero thinks back to their lives before they became Challengers... Rocky was wrestling a brute named Barton. The mob drugged his water. Dizzy, Rocky closed his eyes and rushed, and won. And the only reward he wants is cash and glory... Prof was a spoiled heir with a new toy yacht. Sideswiping a work boat, he found his hero, Sir Lawrence Revere slaving to salvage a statue for local fishermen. Prof ruined his chances. Prof helps, and sees Revere risk his life to rescue the statue. Prof starts to grow up... Red worked on a radio tower for President Domingo in a South American country. A kid asks Red to stop, because Domingo plans to broadcast propaganda. Red brushes him off, and the kid gets shot. Red chases the dictator up the tower, where he's struck by lightning. But the dead kid was the hero... Ace ran a tiny air service delivering nitro to prospectors. He had to jettison the load, but opened a rich vein of gold. All four men will appear on the radio show "Heroes", yet each feels like a fraud or failure. Rocky sticks gum on Ace's new paint job, LUCKY ACE. They get airborne, and crash. Miraculously, they survive. Now "living on borrowed time", they vow to put their time to good use... Clayton claims he saw them land, and extinguished the fire, saving their lives. He produces the fuselage scrap with LUCKY ACE. How can they help? In South America, oil workers uncovered a giant golden statue that needs assembling. The Challengers agree to help. Prof and Red are attacked by a flying arm and sword! Dodging, they chain the arm - but notice machinery inside! Clayton binds and imprisons them with Dr. Steuben, the robot's inventor. Ace and Rocky are attacked by the shield arm. Ace takes flight and Rocky snares it with a cargo net. As they attach the arm to the statue, it goes crazy and batters the statue, cracking it! Ace reprogrammed the arm. The robot fires sizzling eye bolts, but Ace steers the sword through its electronic brain. Clayton is captured. What tipped Ace to the fraud? The fuselage scrap with LUCKY ACE should have been smeared with Rocky's bubble gum!
