Synopsis | Redemption attacks Superman by disrupting the gravity around him, so Superman retaliates by pushing him through orbit, landing in the Australian outback. Redemption is being powered by people praying back in his home church, being channeled through Rev. Hightower. They fight for a while, but then Redemption loses power, as he senses that the Sakira people back in Nyasir are in danger, and he pleads with Superman to help. Superman does, but by the time he gets back to Australia, Redemption is gone. Superman returns to the Planet, and researches Rev. Hightower. He talks over the situation with Barbara Johnson (from Superman 659), and then with his folks in Smallville. Finally, he goes as Clark to Rev. Hightower, confronting him with the data from his past. Hightower admits he is channeling power to Redemption, but is proud of it, and tells Clark he can print that. So Clark goes to the Dale family house (whose son Jarod is Redemption), giving all of them the information. Several days later, during Sunday services at the church, Jarod confronts Rev. Hightower, with regrets over what he has done. Hightower powers Redemption up, and discusses some more. Superman also appears, but after talking things out, Superman leaves, and then the congregation rejects Hightower, and also leave. Hightower is now powerless, and collapses. Clark then discusses the situation with Lois, and decides to sit on the story. |
