# on cover: 30026-509. 25c. A 68-page giant size comic with non-slick paper covers reprinting a variety of Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck stories including two long classic stories by the grand old Duck man, writer/artist Carl Barks: "Only A Poor Old Man," (from Four Color #386) in which Scrooge, Donald, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie move Scrooge's money to a new hiding place when the Beagle Boys start construction in the lot next to the money bin (This story has the famous Scrooge McDuck philosophy: "NO man is poor who can do what he likes to do once in a while! And I like to dive around in my money like a porpoise! And burrow through it like a gopher! And toss it up and let it hit me on the head!"), and the Four Color #29 reprint, "Donald Duck and the Mummy's Ring" in which a mysterious ring with three serpents on it lead Donald, Huey, Dewey, and Louie into a perilous adventure to Egypt. Issue also has three untitled Donald and Scrooge stories and two one-page gag strips. The gag strips are by Barks and story/art credits are unknown on the untitled stories. NOTE: This comic is very rare in the higher grades. This saddle-stitched (with three staples) reprints Four Color #386 (Uncle Scrooge #1) and the first story from Four Color #29. Rather than being printed on slick paper, the cover is newsprint. Gold Key briefly experimented with newsprint covers on several of their giant comics and Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck #1 was one of them. As might be expected, the results were less than satisfactory, and the experiment was soon dropped. Cover price $0.25.

1st printing. Adapted by Giovan Carpi. In the tradition of Mickey's Christmas Carol and Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers, master Disney comics writer/artists tackle wild retellings of great literature! It's Victor Hugo... duckified! When French gendarme Javert thinks that poor Jean McJean (Scrooge McDuck) stole two candlesticks, he swears to run him down-even years later, when McJean has become town mayor and guardian of Daisette (Daisy Duck). Are the candlesticks the key to a fabulous treasure lost in Paris? And do the frères Beagle and Peg Leg Thénardier want it? (Silly question!) Then, in our version of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, Count Donald Dukzukov of ancient Russia loves Ducktasha Roastov (Daisy)-but Prince Scrooge McDukzukov wants to force him into an arranged marriage... or punish him in the McDukzukov Metalworks, where cannon balls are so pricey that you have to return them after the battle! 1st printing. Stories and art by Carl Barks. Donald becomes a maharajah, a giant sea serpent attacks, and Donald invents an atom bomb! Through a series of trade-ups, the nephews turn Donald's old pencil stub into - a steamship ticket to India! Off they go, and Donald is soon declared to be "Maharajah Donald" - but there's a catch! Then, Donald accidentally buys a houseboat at an auction that leads to an encounter with a giant sea serpent! Next, "Santa's Stormy Visit," a Christmas story with none of the trimmings - no man in a red suit, no snow(but a tropical hurricane!), no presents under the tree (no tree!) But still a charming holiday tale. And don't miss "Donald Duck's Atom Bomb!" As we circle back to Carl Barks's earlier stories, the Good Duck Artist delivers another superb collection of surprise, delight, comedy, adventure, and all-around cartooning brilliance. 193 pages of story and art, each meticulously restored and newly colored. Insightful story notes by an international panel of Barks experts. Hardcover, 224 pages, full color. Cover price $35.00.

Story and art by Carl Barks.
THE VERY FIRST SCROOGE STORY... PLUS WEST INDIAN, AUSTRALIAN AND VOLCANIAN ADVENTURES.
Scrooge McDuck is now such a fixture in the Disney universe that few remember Carl Barks had been writing and drawing Donald Duck stories for half a decade before he cooked up the miserly multiplujillionaire - for what he thought would be a one-time Christmas yarn involving Donald, the nephews, Scrooge in a bearskin, and (inevitably) a couple of real bears.
"Christmas on Bear Mountain" is one of Barks's funniest holiday stories and a true landmark in comics history, and offers a fascinating look at a roughedged, genuinely nasty character whom Barks would soon soften...Scrooge aside, there's plenty of fun to be had in this volume.
In "Volcano Valley" Donald and the Nephews end up stuck in Volcania, a south-of-the-border country inhabited by sombrero-wearing, siesta-addicted Volcanians. Other long-form adventures include the self-explanatory "Adventure Down Under," as well as one of Barks's most atmospheric thrillers, the West Indies-based "Ghost of the Grotto," which includes a lovely night-time sequence drawn in Barks's trademark silhouettes and a giant-octopus-vs.-hot-chili-peppers throwdown that climaxes in an explosive splash panel.
The book is rounded off with seven of Barks's hilarious 10-pagers, and as with the previous volumes, Walt Disney's Donald Duck: Christmas on Bear Mountain has been scanned from crisp vintage art and meticulously colored to match the original printing's warm, simple hues, and features abundant critical and historical notes penned by some of duckdom's finest experts.
Hardcover, 240 pages, full color.

Donald Duck's Atom Bomb (#Y1 1947) is the rarest of the Cheerios Premiums. Features Carl Barks art. Due to the atomic bomb theme, Disney will never reprint the Atom Bomb story as presented here in the original, non-censored version. Donald had "got a way picked out to make money - and lots of it!" by selling an "atomic hair-grower" at $1.00 per bottle. A cash register and money in a customer's hand is depicted. In the censored version, Donald has "more than money in mind" and gives away free samples of a normal hair-grower. The word "atomic" is removed from the board, but most noticeable are the cash register being replaced for a pyramid of bottles and the people in the queue having combs in their hands instead of dollar bills. Appearances by: Donald Duck, Huey Dewey and Louie, Professor Mollicule, and Professor Sleezy. Cheerios 1947, 32-page, full color, newsprint promotional comic, 6-7/8 x 3-1/8, Issue #Y1. 32 pages.

Donald's cuckoo-bananas cousin Fethry, that's who! He's roping desperate Don into a two week treasure hunt on the ocean floor... and a bear-taming trip to Duckburg's deepest woods - and a mission to cure hiccups with scary rural remedies! Are fame and fortune worth it?

Written by Lewis Trondheim. Art and Cover by Nicolas Keramidas. Translated by David Gerstein.
Acclaimed French cartoonists Lewis Trondheim and Nicolas Kéramidas present a mind-bending Duckburg graphic novel!
When Donald grouses that money will never buy Uncle Scrooge happiness, Scrooge snaps - and sets Donald on a treasure hunt for happiness itself. A terrible task for an unlucky Duck... or is it? With help from Professor Ludwig Von Drake, deep in the cranky kingdom of Brutopia - the impossible may be possible!
Presented as a "lost" 1960s Disney story - complete with retro-style color - Donald's Happiest Adventures bristles with wit in the Carl Barks tradition... and bustles with the whole Disney comics cast, including friends and rivals Gladstone Gander, Mickey Mouse, and Pegleg Pete!
