The result of a radical experiment gone horribly awry, this mindless mockery of a man was once Ted Sallis, a biochemist stationed in the Everglades who developed a "miracle drug" in an attempt at recreating the "super-soldier serum" that created Captain America. Victim of betrayal and hunted down by agents from A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) who coveted his formula and research, Sallis flees, injecting himself with the only existing sample of the serum - mere moments before his car crashes into the fetid swamps in a fiery blaze! Ted Sallis should have died that day... but, what emerged from the swamp through the amalgam of his formula and the mysterious, elemental forces extant in the murky bog was some-thing beyond human comprehension...a Man-Thing!
