Holland finds himself stranded in a small town that has been overrun by vampires. He meets a small group of desperate survivors whose numbers are dwindling by the night. But the true horror of the tale comes to light when Holland, and the reader, realize the lengths one man will go to stop the threat of a vampire plague sweeping across the country. Scott Morse (Ancient Joe, Barefoot Serpent) illustrates Jane Espenson's poem "Spot the Vampire," a cross between a New Yorker cartoon and a children's book, in which evil hides in plain sight. And the centerpiece of the issue is the fourteen page "Jack" story by Spider- man/Wolverine creative team Brett Matthews and Vatche Mavlian?a Victorian vampire mystery. Under a cover by Cal McDonald and 30 Days of Night artist Ben Templesmith, the second installment of Tales of the Vampires digs deeper into the dark side of Joss Whedon's girl empowerment myth.
