Cover by Joe Kubert. Stories and art by Joe Kubert and Norman Maurer. Comics legend Joe Kubert won fans early in his career with his tales of Tor, a caveman struggling for survival in a world where humans co-exist with dinosaurs. Tor saves the cave-boys Tik and Tok from a pteranodon nest, earning the gratitude of their father the chieftain, but also the enmity of the corrupt shaman Valnu. In another story, Tor solves a prehistoric murder mystery. Tor must brave a tribe of ape-men to save a village from a deadly disease. Co-creators Joe Kubert and Norman Maurer put themselves into the comic to discuss the anti-comics hysteria of the 1950s, including the Kefauver hearings. Plus full-page dinosaur illustrations by Kubert. And an ad for the "Scholart Institute," one of Kubert's first attempts at comics art instruction, preceding the Joe Kubert School by two decades.
