22 page Metal Men story "The Playground of Terror!"

Characters Metal Men (Gold; Iron; Platinum; Tin; Mercury; Lead); Doc Magnus; Timmy; evil robots
Synopsis The Metal Men fly to put on a show for children, but Tina stops for one lonely boy who refuses to come. The show is a hit. Iron makes a horseshoe of Lead and throws a "ringer" around Doc. Mercury bends like a pretzel. But sentimental Tina can't forget that lonely boy and zings away. She finds Timmy is blind. His mother hopes that, in the future, "chemical compounds" will cure his blindness. The other Metal Men show up. Even Doc is moved, so Timmy gets to spend the day with the Metal Men. Tina blurts that Doc, a genius, can probably cure his blindness. She gives Doc a big kiss, but "it tastes like being smacked by a cold, wet platinum bracelet!" Timmy visits a rocket ready to launch, and Tina insists on a short flight. But a "cosmic turbulence" hurls them through space. Back on Earth, Doc hides in his lab: finding a cure for blindness is hopeless. The Metal Men land on an eerie planet with a deserted amusement park. They board the roller coaster, but it turns lethal. The "rides" are evil robots who killed their masters. The Metal Men dodge a rolling ferris wheel, plunging rockets, and other juggernauts, but are blinded by a giant take-your-own-photo camera. Blind Timmy takes charge and leads the Metal Men toward the rocket, because he counted the steps earlier. But the murderous rides are getting closer, closer...
